AVITHA assist an interior designer company with their office relocation.
Introduction
In the second quarter of 2018, a London based interior designer company reached out to us for assisting them with their office relocation project. Our task was to audit all their existing IT infrastructure, prepare a plan for relocating all IT assets and replace any end of life devices with new ones. Additionally, we were also asked to improve its existing IT system where a technology refresh is required.
Project brief
We arranged a meeting with the client. There we interviewed employees and directors, audited IT systems, documented everything. Then we prepared our action plan and sent to the client. After, it was approved, we started our work accordingly. We purchased new networking equipment’s and adopted a more efficient network topology in the design. We also replaced old analogue phone with new IP based phone system with IVR enabled. We worked closely with electricians and designers to make sure everything is running according to the plan and completed the project successfully.
AVITHA was able to improve existing IT system, design a better network and relocate the entire IT assets successfully.
Technical Overview
AVITHA team has installed a dedicated broadband line in the new office. This has increased the internet speed significantly. In the audit, our network team noticed that the company uses Onedrive to back up their data. In their existing setup, each workstations had access to the cloud directly. As a result, the network used to get congested due to increased network traffic. Our network engineers have fixed that in the new office. In the solution, we have used a NAS device. Each computer is connected to the NAS via network. So, each user uses the NAS as their local storage, which then synchronize with the cloud. We have used 1 ER-X router, 7 Unifi Switches and 7 Unifi AP-AC-Pro access points. Network segmentation has been done to add an extra layer of security.
Email migration
The company was using Zimbra email client in their old office. This email system was slow and caused problems in the company’s business process. Therefore, the client had requested us to move all emails from Zimbra to office 365. We were able to complete this without causing any interruption in the business process.
Workstation setup
AVITHA team installed 20 workstations for employees and directors of the company. We organised cabling neatly to avoid clutters. As the client itself is an interior design company, it was essential that each workstation is set up beautifully matching office decoration.
We replaced the old analogue-based phone system of the office with a new VoIP PBX system from Grandstream. We have used UCM6208 PBX and 20 GXP2170 IP handsets. We have also used IVR system along with voice mail to email automation.
Security systems
6 FD8166A-N IP cameras and an ND8322P NVR have been installed for the CCTV system. Apart from these, we have also installed alarms and motion sensors. For the door entry system, we have installed BPT. For that we have used 1 unit of Classic Brass entry panel, 2 units of Futura IP monitor, 2 units of Agata Audio receiver.
